UnderGround - Aug 02
One rainy, gloomy Sunday my brother Rob and I were exploring a newly felled area in the Glenbervie Forest just out of Whangarei. Ironically the area includes an aptly named track called The Flipper. Anyway, we were exploring a previously unridden ridge - popping over scattered branches, wallowing in the mud and generally having a whale of a time. I decked my bike on a sweeping, oversized, slippery bend. No worries except that I sliced my shin open on the big chain ring. I was able to stem the flow by squeezing it together with my fingers - but we needed to bind it with something so I could hobble home. I didn't want to sacrifice any of the three Ground Effect layers I was wearing - that would be too cold. Rob had a brainwave. He took off his trademark 'never leave home without it' bandanna. The stretchy cloth was perfect. It held the wound together and kept it clean until the doctor peeled it off four hours later. Thanks for springing me the new one - I too now have an essential bit of equipment for my first aid kit.

Wear under your helmet to stop hard-earned sweat getting in your eyes. Crafted from stretchy Cotton Lycra®.
> Made by us in New Zealand.
> All Ground Effect clothing enjoys a warm machine wash. Try to avoid cold-water detergents and those with bleach. The cold-water varieties have little enzymes that are super-charged to brave the cold but can damage technical fabrics and cause skin irritation. And bleach rots natural fibres like cotton, strips the dye and can also cause irritation. As a rule of thumb, product that is easy on the planet is also easy on your body. Plant based soaps like 'Ecover' or specific sport wash formula are recommended.
> Hand washing is sometimes the only option on tour, but a washing machine rinses more thoroughly and is preferable if you have the choice.
> Drying on the line or hanging on the bedpost is generally preferable to using a dryer. Most Ground Effect gear dries super-fast anyway. High heat can damage some fabrics so if you must take your threads for a spin set the device on 'medium' or 'warm' rather than hot.
