What Mountain Bike (UK) - Dec 07
The last set of these we had kept our spirits high through a whole Yorkshire winter of commuting. We were proper upset when we tore the palm open in a crash too so it's great to have another set. All this drama for just £18 - quick someone call ITV2!
Mountain Bike UK - Jan 03
For a glove that doesn't claim to be waterproof (or look like it's gonna be), the Chipolatas do a fantastic 'duck' impression, in that water really does just roll of it. The reinforced palms are highly resistant to abrasion, although the extra material does bunch up a little which reduces comfort on long rides; meanwhile, the wrapped fingertips eliminate the possibility of any seams reducing bar control sensitivity. The WindFoil fabric is extremely warm and wind resistant, even fending off the chill of a downhill run that left noses frozen and would be nice and a bit of reflective piping wouldn't go amiss, but these extras aside, the Chipolatas make for highly competent and good value winter gloves.
Verdict: 9/10
Captain Scott could have done with a pair of these

WindFoil™ Softshell has a smooth knitted exterior with lightweight micro-fleece liner; while WindFoil™ fleece has a lightweight micro-fleece outer and wicking-mesh liner. Both have a WindFoil™ membrane sandwiched between the inner and outer fabrics, providing effective protection in cold, dry conditions.
> Composition: 100% Polyester with PU membrane
> Windproofness: 100%
> Breathability: 3000gm per sq.m per 24hr
Composite Tops
For short trips in stable weather conditions, a Ground Effect composite top lets you travel light and fast with just a single thermal layer. These designs combine a WindFoil™ front with a breathable micro-fleece or Heatwave™ Merino back. A long front zip for ventilation allows you to manage your body temperature through a wide range of conditions. Apparently you can have your cake and eat it too.

Anti-freeze for your digits on those nasty cold morning jaunts to work, or while out night riding your favourite singletrack. Reinforced palms provide extra protection for your mitts and ensure positive contact with your bike. Get 'em while they're hot.
> Softshell outer.
> Multi-panel fit.
> Fast drying, hardwearing synthetic suede palms.
> Silicon screened prints on palm and fingers provides additional grip.
> Imported.
> Ground Effect gloves enjoy a warm machine wash. Try to avoid cold-water detergents and those with bleach. The cold-water varieties have little enzymes that are super-charged to brave the cold but can damage technical fabrics and cause skin irritation. Bleach may attack the WindFoil laminate and can also cause irritation. As a rule of thumb, product that is easy on the planet is also easy on your body. Plant based soaps like 'Ecover' or specific sport wash formula are recommended.
> Wash your gloves separately - the synthetic suede can cause havoc staining other clothing.
> Air dry only - no dryers for these puppies.
