The Golden Bay Mtb Club have been given the green light to build a grade three descending mtb trail in the scenic reserve on the mighty Takaka Hill.
The trail is approximately 3.5km from the top to the mid section (Horseshoe Bend). $5000 of club money put the digger on the hill to complete 300 metres of trail. The club asked the Ground Effect Slush Fund for $2000 to put towards more digger time on project, and managed to get 600 metres of new track completed before winter and the inevitable Takaka rain sent them home.
The club are currently working on various funding proposals with an aim to get a large amount of funding in place for spring so they can restart work.
