This is my second Hoodwink. I bought one about 8 years ago and loved it so much it's nearly worn out. This is a far more versatile jacket than I expected. Being windproof with some insulation, but compact and light, I found it perfect for bikepacking trips. It's good for chilly mornings on the road and comfy to wear round camp in the evenings. I also use it commuting on frosty mornings (then stow it in the pannier on the way home). When the original zip on my original green one wore out I bought a lovely new blue one for best, and patched up the zip on the old one for garden duty. The only job I've found it's not well suited for is hiking up steep hills; being windproof, at walking speeds I get too hot. But for everything else, it's great. Highly recommended.
I’m impressed. Biking in a Queenstown winter is a real challenge with subzero temperatures but this has been great over thermal layers and under another shell. I had been struggling before I purchased it. The hood is probably a bit bulky to wear under the helmet but does provide extra warmth around the neck. On another note, this replaces my almost 30 year old Baked Alaska, which had finally got a bit threadbare in the shoulders. Medium fitted fine-I’m 181cm and 75kg, if that’s helps anyone.
Sizing runs a bit smaller than some of the other GE products, so had to return.
I recently purchased this for my partner- new to Chch and new to commuting via E- bike in to the city for work. Is a superb colour, fit and overall- nust a great and versatile extra layer that can double as going out ‘active wear.’ Turns heads!
