The chart is a guide only. If you fall in-between sizes, the right size for you will depend on your body shape, height and how loose or tight you like to wear your clothes. Measurements refer to your body not the garment. Jackets and baggies are sized to fit over under-layers - so you should be the same size in both. It's no hassle to swap an item, if your first choice is not the best fit.

However full-length over trou are sometimes best - notably for commuting when you want to keep your long pants dry, or when touring to really cold and/or wet places.

I bought these 3/4 rain pants on bikepacking.com recommendation. I had tried a pair of Shower Pass convertible rain pant but were too bulky pack wise. The Helter Skelter packs up very small and I believe they will give me the protection needed during a bikepacking trip if forced to press on in the rain. I have not used them yet but I am sure they will do the trick. A little pricey for the minimal design. Got the medium and the waist is a bit snug (I’m 32in waist) but the large would be too big I figure. Getting ready for my first Bikepacking trip as soon as this winter is over here in the North East US.
It's been wet and warm in Welly lately - and the Helter Skelters have been fantastic on the commute and off road. Not baggy but just enough movement to keep me comfy. Once I get used to the 3/4 look I think I might be moving into a new fashion class.
New purchase so only one wet ride and they did a fine job so have bought a pair for my wife Like the zip back pocket ! And good fly for easy access Will be difficult to improve the simplicity Maybe one extra top button But will get very well used perhaps also for hiking as well as biking
The Helter Skelters are an essential item for bike packing or commuting in wet weather. I purchased these specifically for the Paparoa Trail and they kept the rain away for many hours. They are lightweight, comfortable and the fit is absolutely superb. The three quarter length is brilliant for biking and ensures the trousers stay away from the pedal/chain. Overall a very well designed quality product. Very highly recommended!
I recently purchased these pants as a last minute decision before I embarked on a bikepacking trip into the Australian Alps. On my journey I rode in rain, cold and drizzly conditions, all of which was done comfortably and confidently in these pants. Having never worn three quarter length rain pants before, I was impressed by their ability to keep me cool and well ventilated. They pack down and into the rear pocket as a nice neat bundle, easily popped away into a bag until needed. As well utilised on the bike, off the bike they were just as great for getting around town. Thank you for the amazing quality and craft that is these pants. As a first time buyer of a Ground Effect product I'm sure I'll be back for more!
