Disclaimer: I have not bought one of these jackets from GE (sorry), I have bought two prior to GE stocking them. I bought a second one because I love my Cathode so much I just wanted to have another in my goodies cupboard for insurance against the day I trash this one.
It is superb for active wear because the jacket breathes so well and the magic is you never seem too warm, unless you are wearing it when it is too warm to be wearing it. It is not great if it is really cold and you aren't active but then you can throw a shell over the top to extend the comfort range. It is a very versatile jacket, I have worn it skiing with just couple of light merino layers underneath and was comfy even when the wind got up a little, just pull up the hood and you are comfy again (and the hood is great). I have worn it biking and it is a great breathable windproof solution. I mostly wear it mucking around doing the daily stuff, to and from work when it is cool, at kids sport - that can be awful in the winter.
It is a light fabric that I should have torn on more occasions than the one time I have, it was quickly repaired with "tenacious tape", I think I even caught it on bush lawyer once and got away with it, possibly barbed wire too, I would not recommend that sort of abuse but it does illustrate the robust nature of my favourite rather well! The only negative I can see is that OR make it in black and that this is the only colour stocked here, what is the kiwi obsession with black? Do people really where black jackets cycling? Maybe a death wish.
Fit is good, pockets are great with two hand warmers, one chest pocket and inside you can use the liner be hind each hand warmer as an interior pocket say to put the newspaper in to keep it dry. The length is just right, have I said I love this jacket?
