Kaiterau Trail - Kaikōura
In September last year the Kaikōura Cycling Club completed the 11km Kaiterau loop track on Mt Fyffe. The trail is a 7.4km single track climb with 3.5km of decent. With regular weather events rolling through the club approached the Ground Effect Slush Fund for cash to purchase tools for ongoing maintenance. A $1300 contribution from the Slush Fund has purchased a Stihl battery chainsaw and two Pulaski (firefighter's) axes. Two Weapons of Mass Creation (WMC) trail tools are on order from Gareth Hargreaves in Dunedin.
The club also looks after 35km of river trail in the area, and the team are now busy working to connect the Kowhai riverside single track with the Kaiterau Trail. Keep up-to-date with progress on Facebook.
