I've had a couple of nice 'trail' tops and the Ground Effect Median Strip is actually a very well-fitting jersey. Made from HeatWave material, placing merino wool against your skin and polyester on the outside for durability this jersey is a little warmer than others in their range. It has a regular fit without an elasticised hem, so it sits really well. The long zip on the front is great, although I'm used to full zips. The raglan cut sleeves sit over my shoulders comfortably, and don't ride up while riding. The jersey has three pockets, one with a zip, and some reflective detail. It's not a jersey you load up the pockets on, as they will sag a little. Perhaps the best thing about the jersey is that I didn't feel silly wearing it on the bike, thought little of it when riding, and happily wore it out for lunch too. The material looked after any odour, the fit and colour looked the goods.
People I know who own Ground Effect clothing speak highly of its ability to deal with not being washed for weeks on end. So I didn't wash the Median Strip. I wore it on every ride I did for the whole test period, usually combined with the Vulpine Alpine jersey, and it has yet to become a sentient being.I have to admit I was dubious about the weight of the Median Strip and expected it to act as a sponge for sweat, which would then go off and stink up the house. Surprisingly, it didn't. It would be a little heavier than before the ride, but after being left out to dry it would be fine to wear again without any nose wrinkling form me, or more importantly, my wife. Which was surprising as the jersey has a high (49%) polyester content. The cut was a little on the relaxed side, which I suspect was due to me being a size up than normal, but it does make it nice and breezy, which will be great during the summer months. The three rear pockets hold things, with the middle one having a puncture patch sewn into the seam - a very nice and simple touch. Finally, it looks great.A jersey suited to riding the Kiwi Brevet or just smashing around your trails. I love it.
Super comfy and love the style. Considering buying one or two more.
wore through range of weather & temperature for 6 days off road tour-comfortable throughout+ barely any odour at the end ;long zip really helps regulate body temp ,esp with merino arm warmers -up+ down
I have been riding with my new blue median strip top for the last few months. It is super comfy ,breathes well and looks cool. The cobalt blue colour with retro styling is my favourite and my go-to shirt for both mountain and road riding.
