Update from Peru

30 June 2026

Photos: Robert Morgan

As promised Robbie, Adrian and David are capturing amazing images of life on two wheels in the mountains of Peru. Their new tech HydroFoil™ Endure waterproof, windproof and highly breathable shells are being put through their paces along with the ‘Solaris’ sun hoodie. Robbie supplied us with a photo essay update. It turns out Ground Effect Shellwear is de rigueur on the Peru Great Divide this winter!

Crossing over Pastoruri Pass.

David in full GE kit battling the cold at 4900m looking out
at Yerupaja in the Cordillera Huayhuash.

Adrian in full GE kit looking out at the Cordillera Blanca at sunset!
We ended up finishing this day in the dark!

David nearing Abra Cuncush Pass.

Jirishanca a 6000m peak of the Cordillera Huayhuash.

Crossing over Cordillera Raura, where we were caught in a hail storm at the top.

Us at the top of the highest pass so far, just south of Oyon.

Adrian in the Plaza de Armas of Rapaz.

Llamas at near 5000m altitude.

Torres del Vichaycocha, where we met another kiwi riding the route who
also had a Ground Effect jacket! And he knew us as the “Ground Effect Crew”.

Camping under a huge limestone peak near San Miguel de Vichaycocha.

Robbie, Adrian and David are on a two month long trip which began in Lima, Peru. A bus to Huarez, a mountain village in the Cordillera Blanca range positioned them and their bikes at the start point for their venture southwards to the Bolivian border and perhaps into Bolivia itself.
