St Arnaud, Nelson Lakes
Another Ground Effect Slush Fund work party was successfully done and dusted in November 2014. Having spent the last few years toiling on the Craigieburn Trails’ network, we migrated our efforts north to the Nelson Lakes area. The MTB Trails Trust have ambitious plans for creating and reclaiming shared-use trails around St Arnaud and further afield.
Braving the sand flies and the weather a great bunch of Ground Effect customers got wet and sweaty blazing a new piece of trail (named Duck Down) through kanuka forest, from the Big Bush Ridge into the back of the St. Arnaud village. Super fine cuisine was supplied by the Alpine Lodge on Saturday evening to feed the hungry workers. See below for pictures of the weekends antics.
Zane delivers a taste of sustainable track design in this video. Just the story to get amped for a weekend on the business end of a mallet.
