Back in 2013 the Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club in North West Tasmania acquired a lease on an old speedway site to create the Penguin Mountain Bike Park. Club members and volunteers have been busy constructing sustainable trails to IMBA standard, thanks to the IMBA books provided by Ground Effect for guidance.
Fast forward 2015 and the club created 4km of trail at the bike park including structures and a skills section. In addition they have been busily working with land owners to create a very special network of trails within the Dial Range, including reopening old walking tracks and refurbishing existing overgrown multi-use trails such as the 'Tramway Trail'. The club ran its inaugural 'Cranky Penguin Mountain Bike Marathon' on the trails this year. The Slush Fund provided the $700 cash required for a scrub cutter.
