Wairoa Gorge MTB Park - Tasman

14 August 2024

The Ground Effect Slush Fund has put its name to a couple of the 13 prescribed trail routes at the Wairoa Gorge Mtb Park, and donates $1000 cash each year to help the Nelson Mtb Club maintain and continuously improve the Gorge trails.

The 13 route options are great if you are new to Wairoa and want to take away the hassle of linking the trail network together for a run. Ground Effect has popped its name on Route 5 ‘Hans Rey special’ and Route 6 ‘The Rootiest of Routes’

You can volunteer and get involved with trail maintenance at Wairoa. You don't have to be a highly skilled mtber or an outdoor warrior, they have jobs to suit all skill levels and physical abilities. There are four pre-season Gorge working bees coming up: 25th, 27th, 29th August and 1st September. If you have any questions bang an email to Greg.

Wairoa Gorge has over 70km of world class hand built trails and an access road that is an adventure in itself. The land was gifted to New Zealand via the Department of Conservation, with the Nelson Mountain Bike Club securing a 20 year lease to use and maintain the 70+ km of trails and lodges.
