However full-length over trou are sometimes best - notably for commuting when you want to keep your long pants dry, or when touring to really cold and/or wet places.
Like the drivetrain or expensive components on your bike, proper care and maintenance is essential to extend the life of your HydroFoil™ rain jacket or pants and optimise their performance over time.
Haven t actually used them yet but have lots of experience with Helter Skelters which are shorter versions of Splashdowns. Wore Helter Skelters for 12 hours in West Coast rain. Comfortable and happy. I am sure Splashdowns will be as good so happy to recommend
Unfortunately have only two occasions of wet weather riding since my purchase. However Splashdowns certainly kept my lower half dry! Very comfortable to wear, easy access through the zipped gusset with or without shoes. The Spashdowns marry up well with my recent purchase of a new Storm Trooper to replace the same that I purchased from Ground Effect 21 years ago in 2003. An excellent investment. If these two new items last the same twenty one years it will see me hit my 99th year! I will expect a freebie replacement for the next unsteady years!great products, no complaints! Regards Bernard Silvey!
Purchased these for my husband. My pair were fabulous on some very wet cold weather on the S2S cycle. Even worn as my evening gear in the huts when tramping. A great purchase. The waist is firm so we each went up a size.
I'm very happy with these, I arrived at work bone dry after a torrential downpour. Heaps of room to move in them compared to the old PVC number. They fold up nice and compact.
The problem I had with the 3/4 length version was rain water running down my legs and into my boots - wet socks and boots. With this length, the boots are covered and my feet stay dry. Happy days. They also go some way to keeping my legs warm. As it is winter I have yet to suffer perspiring in them, not sure if they will breathe. Getting them on and off is trouble free with the zippered cuffs, though I take my boots off before removing the trou to keep dirt out of the legs. Have yet to ride in a real downpour which usually results in water getting me wet around my waist. Not sure if that is the over trou not being pulled up high enough or the jacket either riding up or bunching and puddling water. I can say that while the material is reasonably new, it DOES NOT LEAK! I hope these last as long as my other GE gear, but I get the impression that even with care the material and its water proof properties will slowly deteriorate. Fingers crossed for five years plus of service.
