Another happy Tardis customer. I have flown with bikes packed in full sized cardboard boxes and also S &S coupled bikes. I now prefer the Tardis bag. It is easy to handle to and from the airport and fits easily into a taxi, not so with a full size bike box. It doesn’t require as much disassembly as my coupled bike.I was able to fit my fat bike (177 TA rear hub) with 29+ wheels into the bag, yes it was a tight fit. Along with the video instructions I suggest taking off the brake rotors and use something (cardboard) to pad both hubs and cassette. Zip up the bag flip it around upside down then reopen the zipper and see where the contact points are and pad accordingly and your bike should arrive safely as mine did.
I am currently travelling to Canada via California. The bag works well and can be slung over your shoulder when necessary. What it lacks it sufficient protection between the wheels and the frame leading to scratches particularly on the bidon cages.
I ordered a Tardis bag to ship my bike from New Zealand to the U.S. with a stop in Sydney. Even though I have a large mountain bike with wide tires, it fit easily in the bag. I wrapped everything in bubble wrap, and it made it back home with no problems!
I received my Tardis in Queenstown, just in time for shipping my beloved bike back to the States after doing the TA. Packing was easy with the help of the YouTube video, I used minimal amounts of padding, and the bike arrived in Burlington VT in perfect shape. Traveling with a Tardis is so much easier than a bike box, not to mention cheaper, and I'm so grateful to my friend Hilary King who showed me her Tardis and convinced me to go that route. It will make my future bike trips much easier. Thanks for creating the Tardis. It's awesome.
I could not be happier with my new Tardis. It fits my large Surly ECR with its 3 inch tyres with room to spare. I don't even have to deflate the tyres to fit them in. The bag itself is made of sturdy stuff and has carry straps in the right places to make lugging it around possible. Highly recommended!
