The Hunter Mtb Association is based in the Awaba Mtb Park in the foothills of the Watagans near Newcastle. Due to the delicate nature of local flora two bridges were built over natural drainage lines in 2009. Ground Effect provided $2000 cash to help fund the bridges and they named one after us.
Fast forward 2019 and bridge needed some structural and decking work - not just because of its age but also because it will now be a part of the new Adaptive Mtb Gravity Trail. The Slush Fund contributed $1000 towards the purchase of the enviro mesh decking.
The club is expanding its reach into the community by building two new trails (XC opened in July and gravity opening this month) for adaptive mtb riders and part of the build is to incorporate the Ground Effect Bridge. This bridge will connect the new Gravity Trail to a section of the existing XC trail before branching off to the main finish area.
In 2016 the Slush Fund helped out the Dungog Commoners Inc. who are building trails about an hour down the road from Awaba.
