The Ruapehu Mountain Bike Club and Ohakune 2000 in partnership with the local iwi - Ngāti Rangi signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of the Te Pepe Bike Park. The design for the pump track has been inspired by the wing shape of the local puriri moth, which lives in the low-mountain range. The track has been named Te Pepe 'The Moth' and aligned with the National Cycleway Ngā Haerenga www.nzcycletrail.com. The Ground Effect Slush Fund sent a cheque for $1000 to pay for truck and digger hire to clear the site.
Te Pepe Bike Park is situated at the Junction in Ohakune, right next to the start gate of the Mountains to Sea Cycle Trail. Nearby, the easy Mangawhero River Trail is a enjoyable way to reach the other end of Ohakune town.
