Kauri Coast MTB Park, Kaipara

Kaipara Cycling Inc. has a 17 year lease on 440 hectares of forestry 12kms from Dargaville to develop into the Kauri Coast Mountain Bike Park. The plan is to build 40kms of trails over 2 years.

The Ground Effect Slush Fund recently contributed $2000 for trail expertise and digger driver time to build the Matariki Trail. This trail will gradually wind its way up to a viewing area, with plans for an annual pre-dawn ride up to watch the Matariki stars appear.

Trail construction has started and 1.2kms is completed with a further 8kms trimmed by Kaipara Cycling volunteers and ready to go. The digger and diesel has been sponsored for the duration of the build. Numerous local individuals and businesses are sponsoring the build of the first few trails, plus Kaipara Cycling has a Givealittle page for trail building donations.
