- All Ground Effect clothing enjoys a warm 40ºC machine wash.
- As a rule of thumb, a laundry product that is easy on the planet is also easy on your body. Select a mild plant-based soap like Ecostore,Earthwise orAware.
- Hand washing is sometimes the only option on tour, but a washing machine rinses more thoroughly and is preferable if you have the choice.
- Avoid cold-water detergents and those with bleach, 'oxygen whitener' or fabric softener.
- The cold-water varieties have little enzymes that are super-charged to brave the cold but can damage technical fabrics and cause skin irritation.
- Bleach rots natural fibres like merino, strips the dye, attacks laminates of waterproof fabrics and can also cause skin irritation.
- Sodium Percarbonate (the main ingredient in oxygen whitener) can make colours run.
- Fabric softener and wool wash destroy the water repellent finish on waterproof fabrics, and can also cause colours to run.
- Most Ground Effect gear dries super-fast, so hanging on the line or draped over the bedpost is generally the best option.
- High heat can damage some fabrics so if you do take your threads for a spin in the dryer, set the device on 'medium' or 'warm' rather than hot.
- A dryer is recommended for your rain jacket or pants, as it helps recharge the water repellant treatment on the outside of the fabric.
- Wash your gloves separately - the synthetic suede can cause havoc staining other clothing.

Once again great service and products from Ground effects. Ordered one day, arrived the next. After the very cold days last week my old gloves failed to keep the fingers warm. They were from Ground Effect but about 20 years old, so they had given good service. The new gloves were prefect in fit and warmth. I had brought 2 pair, one for winter, one for summer. The high fives will be great for summer riding. Keep on providing great gear for the pedal pushers.

I've got multiple pairs of High Fives now some that are 5 - 6 years old and starting g to get a bit holy. Like all Ground Effect clothing if you want something that's going last for years with hard use then try these.

Australiasignificant reduction in quality
I have my old pair of high fives from 2017 but they are sadly wearing out after being much loved. The new edition of the high fives, made in China not by GE in NZ, is a significant decrease in quality compared to the old pair. The fit is not as comfortable. The seam where the thumb is stitched rubs very uncomfortably on my thumb where I push the gear shifter. And the two thumbs are sewn so sloppily that the thumb pads are visibly different sizes and shapes. I'd keep using the old ones if the touch pad still worked. I've bought loads of gear from GE over the years and it's always been great but this is the first time I'm disappointed by their gear.
