Some items are so good that they rarely need an overhaul, just a small tweak every now and then. The Flash Gordon jacket from kiwi company Ground Effect is one of these. A mainstay of their range, it has changed little in the past years, with the exception that you are now able to remove the sleeves to convert it into a gilet.Made from waterproof yet breathable HydroFoil material the Flash Gordon will handle most downpours. When you're not wearing the jacket it packs down into its pocket. It has a zippered rear pocket, thumb loops, reflective piping and along rear hem to keep the rain off your bum. And, it's made in New Zealand.
Very comfortable jacket, and waterproof (unlike my old one!). Perfect for Fiordland. Get a bit sweaty whereas I didn't used to ... likely comes hand in hand with being waterproof.
The first jacket lasted 5 years of constant use both cycling and day walking. The new product seems a little lighter but just as effective. Going the extra dollars is worth the investment. We have 5 riders in our group wearing these very safe jackets.
Have used the jacket a number of times during training & my commute. Excellent job of keeping the rain out and warmth in. Innovative detatchable sleeve design allows it to be used also as a Gillete jacket.
It keeps the wind and rain away, on my commute to work each and every day. For running or biking, its number one, the zip off sleeves are great in the sun. Its the best outdoor jacket, I have owned, Made me want to write a little poem
