Under ya seat harness and removable waterproof bag for lightweight off-road touring and multi-day mountain biking. Light, stable and voluminous.
Time of year, terrain and availability of huts all impact on your selection but on a two day-one night summer mtb trip you should easily be able to stash all your food, clothing and emergency kit into the Ortlieb Seat Pack/Handlebar Bag combo. You may choose to supplement those with a small daypack to carry a water bladder, lunch, snacks and evening meal. Check out the Weight Watcher’s Equipment Guide for more.
Great piece of kit, once I figured out how to out it on the bike. So easy to use and great quality.
A good solid bag and mounting. Requires care with packing to get nose of bag solid top stop bag bouncing onto rear wheel. This is only a problem with extremely hard offroad riding including jumping.
I purchased this from the high end of the bikepacking gear pool because the seppos rate these Alaskan-made bags so highly. A couple of loaded overnighters and it certainly lives up to the hype. Very well designed and constructed, completely waterproof, stuff off the bike and easily strap into excellent harness, and no tail wag. Thanks GroundEffect for bringing this brand south and for mailing to Aus super quick.
I brought this saddlebag as a replacement/upgrade to a cheaper Chinese model I had previously. The Revelate Saddlebag is really well made and secures really nicely to the seat. So far I haven’t had any problems with the bag bottoming out on my tire with rear suspension and love the design. Ground Effect were awesome to deal with and the saddlebag was delivered within two days which was amazing considering it was in between the Christmas/New Year period. Would recommend getting this bag via Ground Effect to anyone in the future.
I received the bag a couple of weeks before doing the Old Ghost Road. I trialed it on the Twin Coast Trail, and it went well, but the real test was to come. I am happy to say that it went well. Very stable, and fitted in a lot of gear. Also easy to attach, and the bag was simple to pop out at the end of each day. Definitely recommend.
