The Rivet's minimalist functionality is born of the monastic needs of long distance endurance riding. Compact and light when stashed away, but completely waterproof when the dogs 'n' cats arrive and you need to press on regardless. Perfect for touring, bikepacking or 'on the rivet' while battling to stay in touch.

Like the drivetrain or expensive components on your bike, proper care and maintenance is essential to extend the life of your HydroFoil™ rain jacket or pants and optimise their performance over time.
I found the jacket to be excellent. Time will tell whether it lasts but I have a friend who's owned one for some time and it's still going strong. Worked great to keep dry out as a wind blocker and I didn't overheat. A little on the pricey side but you often get what you pay for...
First rain and freezing cold day out on the trail. With a nice thermal undershirt it was perfect for keeping water out and not overheating. Its fit was generous and the quality is fantastic.. I have not, and will never have, expectations that hard MTB'ing in waterproof jackets shed body moisture like a wool T-shirt, thats ridiculous. Being a hiker as well I understand that even walking when hiking, body moisture dissipation underneath waterproof jackets is a balance of clothing choice and weather conditions. These are compromises that you have to weigh up. It will definitely assist in shedding body moisture, only to a point, Im sure everyone realises this. One more thing, on freeze your backside off mornings, I find a base layer then Frosty Boy underneath the Rivet I'm as warm as toast and supremely comfortable, albeit my nose freezing off and my eyeballs freezing open. I think an excellent compromise has been achieved by GE in this 'breathable' as possible waterproof jacket which I just love. Oh yea, happy 30th GE, your gear I found is always up to spec. and quietly love that its made in NZ.
Very nice jacket but be careful with sizing. I'm 178cm and 74 kg so purchased a medium as I'm at the upper limit of the size range, and mediums are normally a good fit from all other brands. However although the sleeve length is perfect the body length is very long and the chest is super baggy. Think a small would probably be too small.
I ordered a large which is usually my size, but when it arrived it was way too big. I posted it back to Ground Effect and within 24 hours received and email confirming they were sending a medium out and it should arrive the following day. It did. Good customer care.
I ummed and aahed about the jacket to get and plumped for this Rivet. However I sweat like crazy in it only doing moderate exercise (cycling) due an hour. It lacks breathable and venting. I’ve tried many different base layers and still I would be better off wearing a plastic bin bag. Can’t continue wearing it. So disappointed since I’ve purchased and recommended ground effect gear for the last 25 years.
Hi Jon, thanks for your feedback, we're sorry the Rivet hasn't worked for you. We've flicked you an email to chat about it further. Pedal on, Ernie
