Ground Effect clothing is crafted right here in New Zealand. Has been ever since we started back in 1994. Manufacturing locally works for us. We operate a quick-response system - holding minimal stock of any one item, but churning out a few more quick-smart when the pile gets low. The upshot is that we are seldom caught with our shelves empty, so orders get despatched the same day you place them.

  • All Ground Effect clothing enjoys a warm 40ºC machine wash. Try to avoid cold-water detergents and those with bleach, 'oxygen whitener' or fabric softener.
    • The cold-water varieties have little enzymes that are super-charged to brave the cold but can damage technical fabrics and cause skin irritation.
    • Bleach rots natural fibres like merino, strips the dye, attacks laminates of waterproof fabrics and can also cause skin irritation.
    • Sodium Percarbonate (the main ingredient in oxygen whitener) can make colours run.
    • Fabric softener and stuff containing it like wool wash destroys the water repellent finish on waterproof and water resistant fabrics, and can cause colours to run.
  • As a rule of thumb, a product that is easy on the planet is also easy on your body. Select a mild plant-based soap like EcoverEcostoreEarthwise or Aware.
  • Hand washing is sometimes the only option on tour, but a washing machine rinses more thoroughly and is preferable if you have the choice.
  • Most Ground Effect gear dries super-fast so hanging on the line or drooping over the bedpost is generally the best option. High heat can damage some fabrics so if you do take your threads for a spin, set the device on 'medium' or 'warm' rather than hot. A lap in the dryer is recommended for your rain jacket, after it has dried on the line, as it helps recharge its water repellent finish.

    Wide bandanna

The latest Bandanna is I think wider than previous ones. This give excellent coverage of your ears - the best sun screen! Are they slightly shorter than in the past though? They seem harder to tie up - there is less length of material to tie in a knot. Very absorbent and keep the sweat out of my eyes even on very hot days. Wouldn't ride without one.

Got one to stop sweat getting in the eyes and minimising the imprint of helmet on forehead. Ended up with not only solving those issues but by tucking specs into the banana behind the ears stop specs sliding down my nose - which was driving me nuts! And saved getting a new pair of specs. Great buy! Bill

This is the 4th bandanna I have bought, not because I have worn them out but because I am riding more and find them very comfortable and so handy especially on the indoor trainer where you tend to sweat more. It stays in place really well and never loosens off plus it does a great job of keeping sweat away from the eyes. Love the new darker colour too.

Ok but was sweat sodden before too long. Not as good as a lycra cycle cap.

    Awesome bandannas

I've had a few of these awesome bandannas over my years of riding both on and off road. Nothing beats the ability to catch the sweat before it gets in your eyes and the Ground Effect bandanas are great at doing exactly that - even when they are soaked through the sweat just runs to the back knot! With the stretch fabric you can do them up nice and tight so they don't fall down while riding, another great plus. I'd recommend one of these to anyone, one of the must have's in my kit. Carl.
