    ▹ Hazard!™

Night travel is a spooky experience. Many Ground Effect garments feature our Hazard!™ reflective logo and piping to help remind traffic that we're on the road too.

    ▹ More than Kiwi Made

Ground Effect clothing is crafted right here in New Zealand. Has been ever since we started back in 1994. Manufacturing locally works for us. We operate a quick-response system - holding minimal stock of any one item, but churning out a few more quick-smart when the pile gets low. The upshot is that we are seldom caught with our shelves empty, so orders get despatched the same day you place them.

    • All Ground Effect clothing enjoys a warm 40ºC machine wash. Try to avoid cold-water detergents and those with bleach, 'oxygen whitener' or fabric softener.
      • The cold-water varieties have little enzymes that are super-charged to brave the cold but can damage technical fabrics and cause skin irritation.
      • Bleach rots natural fibres like merino, strips the dye, attacks laminates of waterproof fabrics and can also cause skin irritation.
      • Sodium Percarbonate (the main ingredient in oxygen whitener) can make colours run.
      • Fabric softener and stuff containing it like wool wash destroys the water repellent finish on waterproof and water resistant fabrics, and can cause colours to run.
    • As a rule of thumb, a product that is easy on the planet is also easy on your body. Select a mild plant-based soap like Ecover, Ecostore, Earthwise or Aware.
    • Hand washing is sometimes the only option on tour, but a washing machine rinses more thoroughly and is preferable if you have the choice.
    • Most Ground Effect gear dries super-fast so hanging on the line or drooping over the bedpost is generally the best option. High heat can damage some fabrics so if you do take your threads for a spin, set the device on 'medium' or 'warm' rather than hot. A lap in the dryer is recommended for your rain jacket, after it has dried on the line, as it helps recharge its water repellent finish.

    • Be sure not to wash with socks, fluffy towels or flannelette sheets. Lint clings to the fleece on the inside of your top making it age before its time.

Draught dodger

Seems to keep you warm,I prefer your older shapes with more of a baggy fit.The current one is more a slim fit.

Draft Dodger

I purchased the charcoal grey Draft Dodger and have loved wearing it so much that I almost don't want to use for biking.....in case I ruin it. It is a very warm, stylish jacket that does a great job cutting the wind. The high collar does a good job. Unfortunately since I bought it the heavy winter rain has disappeared, but it has kept me dry in light showers. I highly recommend the jacket.

Draft Dodger

This jacket is AMAZING. Super warm (but not too hot), Is not bulky which was an important feature. Vents in the sleeve are a great idea to keep air going through the gills and keep a comfortable temp. Delivery time was super swift as well. Overall fantastic service (I live in Sydney), never an issue.

Fantastic Travellng Jacket

I purchased the Draft Dodger as a replacement for my much loved 9 winters old (wore it every day cycling to work) windstopper jacket, whose zip gave up the ghost. First up the Dodger arrived within a couple of days of ordering, and fit as expected. Second it was remarkably warm in sub zero temperatures, thirdly it really cut the wind out and finally it was relatively waterproof when cycling in the rain. I subsequently took the Dodger on holidays to Iceland in their late summer/early autumn, where it was cool, rainy, windy, and sunny or a variety of all 4. needless to say it was a great travelling jacket for hiking, sightseeing and touring around. The Draft Dodger will be the first thing I pack for the next adventure.

Draft Dodger, Wind annihilator

Great bit of kit. If anything it's too good. Anything over about 7 degrees and the zippers down and the arms are open. I have to admit I'm already pretty well insulated. Super comfy and well made. Now for you guys to re-release the old snakebites and I'll be in heaven on my bike.
