Got these to keep my toes warm during my winter commute and am very pleased indeed. The San Francisco East Bay winter may not be as cold as some places, but days can be damp, cold, and windy. These socks, in combination with my usual shoe covers, are quite effective. My previously popsicle toes are now toasty toasty. I’ll be ordering a few more pair.
Bought these after reading the reviews as I get cold toes on the chilly mornings on my daily (40 min each way) commute during the winter. The quality is good and the wind blocking fabric has meant the top of my feet are definitely warmer but the seam sits across my toes so they haven’t had the effect I’d hoped for and my toes are still as cold as they are without the Lucifers. I’ve paired them with Footsolders and thicker Zigzags with the same outcome. If the Windfoil fabric was extended to wrap around under the toes I think they would have been perfect, so my rating reflects that they didn’t solve the problem I purchased them for. As I said above the quality is good. My feet are UK11, Euro 46, I purchased Large size and they fit ok (albeit with the seam across, not under, my toes). Can’t win them all I guess.
I’ve been suffering from cold feet whilst night riding for a while now and been on the look out for something to keep me toastie. Two layers of merino just wasn’t cutting it. Then I found trhese - bloody marvellous. Pair them with a thin layer of merino underneath and you’ll be warm as.
Tried them first time today , keep the winter cold away
Zero windchill, didn't feel sweaty but warm enough to go without overshoes on a dry winter day. Trade off with windstopper material is lack of stretch so there is a bit of bunching of material to put up with in a close fitting road shoe but fit is better than others I've tried in the past and not a showstopper. If the undersole was stretch wool rather than fleece I think that would improve the fit. I have size 45 feet, the large was snug enough to use alone or roomy enough to still fit a thin pair of cycling socks underneath for extra warmth. Well stitched and look durable like all GE gear. Overall not perfect but definitely worth four stars.
