Wore these on cold mornings ( around 0degsC) on Clutha Gold and Alps to Ocean in May. Wore thin merino socks underneath and running shoes. My feet stayed warm. I don’t think they would have been enough on their own at that temperature. But worked well for me.
These are one of the best purchases I've ever made. Winter riding leaves you with cold feet, I've tried two pairs of socks but they are too tight in my shoes so my feet go numb. Tried Skins, while they work to some degree they don't fit snuggly, a bit thicker so a little tight and let air in. I have found the Lucifers to be light, 99% warm, snug and fit nicely in my shoes. Even after river crossings where your feet are spongy wet my feet were cold but not the usual frozen. Would definitely recommend.
I gave these to a friend who was upset to have lost her first pair. Having cycled through pedal-deep water and ending up with wet feet, by the end of the ride her Lucifers and her feet were dry and warm. The perfect cycling sock!
I found the Lucifer's stopped all wind chill when the temperature dropped well into the single figures early in the morning. If I was still out when things warmed up I just swapped over to the footsoldiers. Great range of socks.
Comfortable fit and plenty of warmth with the windstop material on top
