Due to the heavy rain event in July, the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park took a real hit. Affecting tracks, bridges and the natural environment. The Ground Effect Slush Fund donated $2000 to sponsor the rebuild of the Badjelly Bridge. The park crew wasted no time in getting the bridge built.
The creek you see in the images was originally a small stream, but widened due the rain event, as debris charged right through the middle of it. Badjelly Bridge links 'Cruise Control' back to the 'Shady Hub'. Planting has also taken place around the track to help restore stabilisation.
The Kaiteriteri MTB Park opened in 2009 - Ground Effect helped in the early days of the development by donating a clinometer (track surveying tool), and trail building manuals.
The park offers great riding with a range of trails to suit all levels of ability and fitness, from easy to intermediate, and advanced to expert. Tracks are well-signposted and easy to follow. Located in a stunning and unique setting you can finish off with a swim at Kaiteriteri Beach. It is part of the Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve and a gateway to the world-renowned Abel Tasman National Park.
