Southland MTB Club

05 August 2025

The Southland Mountain Bike Club recently purchased an e-barrow with a $2099 contribution from the Ground Effect Slush Fund. It has already been put to work, helping to make the maintenance side of things easier on the trails at Sandy Point.

The 29km trail network at Sandy Point Mtb Park has been refreshed with new map boards and trail signs to match the recently finished trail upgrade at Motupōhue/Bluff.

Check out the 1News clip show casing Te Wāhi Tākaro o Motupōhue Adventure Park. 27 trails at Motupōhue cater to a wide range of skill levels and abilities, and are each named to reflect the areas cultural heritage, local landmarks and native biodiversity.

Give the Southland Mtb Club a follow on Facebook to keep up with the latest news. Club members are active in cross country, enduro, downhill, trail development and social riding. The club organises rides and events around Southland. There are excellent tracks at Sandy Point, Bluff, Gore and Te Anau.

Back in 2009 and 2011 the Slush Fund came to the party with funding for building materials for bridges, signage and digger hire: BLUFF HILL / MOTUPŌHUE.
