Taylors Dig Day 14 June 2025, CHCH

Saturday 14 June 2025 rolled round with a dig day in the diary at Taylors Mistake Beach led by Malcom McClurg and the Taylors Mistake Bach Association. Over the past few months Malcolm has been beavering away with the Christchurch City Council and the Ground Effect crew (+ inclinometer) establishing a line for a new track above the Taylors Mistake Road on bach owners and council land.

This yet to be named trail will provide a route for bikers and walkers to avoid the often busy Taylors Mistake Road, and create a trifecta of trails in the valley above the beach, complementing the Taylors Escape and Te Onepoto Loop Track.

A keen crew of volunteers enjoyed the exceptional winter Saturday sunshine and post rains soft soil making great progress on digging in the track, plus creating a rock wall or two. The pictures tell the real story. Ground Effect were stocked to get out and use their brand new trail tools by Dunedin based WMC (Weapons of Mass Creation).
