Artfully dodging forecasts of incoming inclement weather, thirty-odd (careful with the inflexion) keen trail elves scraped, shaped, crafted and benched Christchurch’s Taylors Escape track in June 2021.
Built on Taylors Mistake bach owners' farmland, the 3 km of new track climbs from Taylors Mistake to the Summit Road - avoiding the need to dice with boy racers on the tarmac after descending Anaconda, and also creating a junior loop out of Taylors and down Anaconda for sand castles and a swim.
A job well done, duly celebrated with snarlers and brews courtesy of Ground Effect’s Slush Fund. Note freshly dug dirt takes a few weeks of dry weather to harden up so please refrain from riding if you spy recent digging, and please never ride in the wet.
Subsequent sessions were planned to work on water control and complete benching on the top section, check out all the good drainage mahi on Taylors Escape 2023. Spring 2024 has seen the creation of a new family friendly loop, Te Onepoto.
