In a remote corner of the Roman Forum, archaeologists have unearthed and restored a huge, and extremely rare, painted statue of a long-forgotten military and athletic hero of the Roman Empire, Barrimus Maximus Cyclistes - Commander of Caesar's elite Tenth Legion, unbeaten champion of all Circus Maximus cycling events from 48 - 36 BC, and ten times winner of the Tour d'Appian Way. He is depicted with his favourite cyclus minimus, a bicycle design not seen again until modern times.
