In 2004 the Whitianga Bike Club began developing mtb trails on land leased to them by the Thames Coromandel District Co. The Slush Fund started helping the Club out in 2005. In 2023 the hunt is on to replace the Bike Park & Community Gardens site with a new and more appropriate spot.

The Wainuiomata phenomenon continues... In the early years the Ground Effect Slush Fund helped out with funds for tools and wheelbarrows to get the party started.

The New Zealand Conservation Authority in 2012 approved mountain bike access up the Poulter Valley in Arthur's Pass National Park, after an initial three-year trial period.

The Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park opened in 2009 and is now a well established community resource in Golden Bay. The Park offers approximately 30 km of track network, providing a wide range of trails to suit all levels of ability and fitness.

The Geraldine Lions and Cycling Club have developed 20 km track on Department of Conservation land along the Orari River.

MacKenzie Country locals got together in 2008 to develop the The Lake Tekapo/Tākapo Regional Park within existing forest on the south east edge of Lake Tekapo village. The intention was to foster a range of activities including mtbing.

In the early 2000s the Eurobodalla Cycling Club maintained the Maulbrooks Mtb Tracks in Mogo State Forest, 15 km from Batemans Bay. Fast forward to 2023 and a 150 km network of mtb trails plus the Mogo Adventure Trail Hub were under construction. In 2025 Mogo will host the iconic Sea Otter event.

The Dunghutti Sport and Recreation Indigenous Corporation and the Kempsey Macleay Off Road Cyclists formed a partnership in 2012 to extend the local trail network around Kempsey, north of Port Macquarie, NSW.
