Painkiller Track Project - Reefton

A team of keen volunteers has been working hard to rediscover the Painkiller Track in Reefton. The Ground Effect Slush Fund stumped up the $1800 required to install two culverts.

Taylors Escape 2021 - Christchurch

Artfully dodging forecasts of incoming inclement weather, thirty-odd keen trail elves scraped, shaped, crafted and benched Christchurch’s Taylors Escape track back in June 2021. With a load more trail love the track is running like a dream for summer 2023.

Urumau Reserve - Lyttelton

The Ground Effect Slush Fund has hooked up the custodians of Lyttelton Mountain Bike Trails with some cash to purchase tools to help with trail maintenance and building efforts at Urumau.

Knocking Nicols Off - Dunedin

More than a decade ago, Mountain Biking Otago, led by their nationally-recognised track designer, Hamish Seaton, hand built 8km of bespoke single-track at Nicols Creek. Virtually every Sunday since 2019, Hamish has led dedicated bands of volunteers to hand cut another 2 km of track pushing the trail to the top of the hill.

Queenstown Mtb Club

The Queenstown Mtb Club Junior Sub-Committee has been busy educating the youth of today on how to play their part in the maintenance and development of trails. So they got Ground Effect on board and with $900 cash from the Slush Fund were able to purchase a bunch of kid friendly tools.

Mountain Biking North Otago Inc.

This little Oamaru based club, Mountain Biking North Otago Inc. has been very busy in recent years, building tracks in Herbert Forest, Cape Wanbrow, and Oamaru Reservoir. The Ground Effect Slush Fund provided the $400 needed for a hedge trimmer.

Wharfedale Track - Nth Canterbury

Jim from DOC and Scott from T5 Contracting spent a week working on North Canterburys' finest, the Wharfedale in 2017. The work was funded by another grant from Trail Fund, administering the Community Fund dollars, via the North Canterbury Cycling Club, and represents the final stage of the Wharfedale machine upgrade.

Big River to Waiuta Upgrade

In 2017 the Big River-Waiuta track received some overdue love, courtesy of the Kennett Brothers’ fundraising efforts and enthusiasm from Reefton locals. The Ground Effect Slush Fund added $1000 to the pot for bridge and drainage materials, digger hire, and heli hours.

Branford Park - Nelson

Back in 2016 the Nelson Mtb Club worked hard on the jumps in Branford Park, Maitai Valley. The Ground Effect Slush Fund helped out with $1000 towards digger and truck hire.

Motupipi Hill - Golden Bay

The Rata-Tui Restoration Trust is the owner of the Motupipi Hill Block in Golden Bay. The Trust had a busy 2016 building Grade 2 mountain bike tracks popular with non-technical riders. The Ground Effect Slush Fund donated $1500 cash, put to good use on digger hire to complete the La Rambla Track.
