The Southland Mountain Bike Club have created a 15 km network of trails on Motupōhue/Bluff Hill. Way back in 2010 they completed a 4.5 km single track climb to the top of the hill proffering outrageous views of Rakiura/Stewart Island.

In 2010 the Glacier Country Mtb Club in Franz Josef, South Westland constructed 1.7 km of flowing single track, named the Faultline Track. Fast forward to 2022 and a feasibility report into a four-day 154 km cycling trail from Ōkārito Lagoon to Fox Glacier has been released.
